A Little about me:
(Élan: confidence, style, and flair)
My first exposure to computers was in the late 1970’s but that was mostly playing Pong and Tank Attack on a Commodore 64. In 1986 I joined the Army and was stationed as an Administrative Specialist to the Office of the G1/AG, Officer Management of 5th Infantry Division, Mechanized at Fort Polk, LA. I quickly taught myself the basics of DOS and Windows 2.0 and set up the very first Officer Management Database used at Fort Polk. Shortly after that I was selected to become the Mobilization Cross-Leveling Training Officer for Fort Polk (a computer program to manage deployment of the Division), a position usually reserved for Master Sergeants to Captains.
After the Army I worked, for the most part, in construction. I was doing framing, roofing, and plumbing until 2000. In 2000 I qualified for a Veteran’s benefit to attend Michigan Career and Technical Institute in the Office Automation course where I received a Diploma, CompTIA A+ Certification as well as many awards, certificates, and honors in 2003.
In 2005 I achieved my CompTIA Network + Certification and in 2007 I re-certified in the CompTIA A+ and Network + Certifications at New Horizons Computer Learning Center because of advances in technology and testing as well as receiving my Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician, EC-Council Computer Security 5 Certification, Help Desk Institute Support Center Analyst Certification, and the Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) Foundations Certification. In September of 2007 I trained in Corvallis, Oregon at Hewlett Packard as an HP Photo Solutions Technician and went on to assist in the installation of the Meijer’s Photo center upgrade to the HP Photo Center equipment.
Since 2003 I have been troubleshooting, repairing, and building computer systems for friends and family. I came to realize that besides the fact that I love to work on computers many people were dissatisfied with the quality of work and prices at the big box stores. I have always believed honesty is the best policy. There will never be any hidden or unnecessary charges. I will always be up- front about what is wrong with your computer. I’ll clearly explain the problem to you, what needs to be done to repair the problem and the cost to repair it.
